BACKGROUND

The Special Economic Zone (SEZ) or well known as Free Trade Zone of Batam, Bintan, and Karimun is the first one launched and operated in Indonesia all positioned in one of the most active shipping routes, between the sea areas of Singapore, Malaysia, and Sumatera.

The FTZ area has been established in 2007 and the Investment Law (art. 31/1) makes it a Special Economic Zone for 70 years. Article 2/1 prioritizes the following economic fields: trade, maritime, industry, transportation, banking and tourism.

TAXATION

Batam-Bintan-Karimun is a free port and a free trade zone, which offers interesting incentives to companies producing in Batam for export.VAT & LST-Value Added Tax and Local Service Tax In accordance with local rules, the great majority of transactions to enter services or goods in Batam-Bintan & Karimun are VAT and LST exempted (always remember to verify if your products are part of this of this majority!).

While Import taxes : When goods are imported into Batam or exchanged among companies within the free trade zone, no import duty is applied. But if those same good enter other parts of Indonesia, then all the import duties and taxes are applied.

There should be a simplify, easy manning, reliable, accurate and fast timing of process clearing customs both into and out of non-bonded, bonded areas and the FTZ in Batam-Bintan as the growth of export and import in Kepulauan Riau especially Batam is relatively increased.

Started the initiative to built a logistic and transportation forwarder company by the name of CV. Kharisma Mitra Abadi in 2012 followed by PT. Kepri Lautan Kargo as a subsidiary CV. Kharisma Mitra Abadi provides a service of custom clearance and permit handling for goods/material includes consumable items from the customer before proceeding to be transported from loading point to either distribution centre or transit ponts which are built for cross docking activities.

PT. Kepri Lautan Kargo as its subsidiary company enlarge the services by providing transportation services, logistic hub and warehouse. Destination point China, Malaysia, Singapore to Batam-Bintan-Karimun.
